The Best Celebrity Baby Names of 2007. They didn't garner quite the media hype of 2006, but nontheless, celebrity baby names in 2007 continued to fascinate and engage the press and the public alike. With names like Heaven Rain (Brooke Burke's daughter); Alabama Gypsy Rose (Drea de Matteo); and Ptolemy John (Gretchen Mol's son), 2007 had its share of celebrity baby names that people love to call "weird." But overall, it was a tame year as far as weirdness went, with more stars giving their kids classic or traditional names than in previous year. Marcia Cross's daughters, named Eden and Savannah, or Nancy Grace's John David and Lucy Elizabeth are perfect examples of the trend. But traditional or oddball, no matter what, celebrity baby names are always big news. Here's a list of ten celebrity baby names that made the news in 2007.
# 1. Heaven Rain.
In the end, the daughter of actress Brooke Burke and actor David Charvet seemed a natural for the number one spot. Burke especially seems drawn to creative names, since she has two daughters from a previous marriage, named Neriah and Sierra. And with a fourth baby on the way, we wanted to give her all the encouragement we can in the baby-naming department.
# 2. William Huckleberry.
One of the most talked-about babies of the year is the son born to country music star Brad Paisley, and his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley. In a poll on this site, half the respondents loved the name Huckleberry, and half seemed to hate it. Love it or hate it, it's a memorable name for a very famous celebrity baby.
# 3. Angel Iris.
Sometimes, controversy and publicity trump just about everything. So it was with this pick, Angel Iris, daughter of Spice Girl Melanie Brown, and, in a late admission of paternity, comedian Eddie Murphy. The couple are famously not together, but Angel Iris won't be fading from the celebrity baby headlines anytime soon.
# 4. Princess Tiaamii.
It's names like this one that keep people curious about celebrity baby names. British glamour model Jordan (real name Katie Price) and her pop singer husband Peter Andre created quite a stir back in January when they named their daughter Princess Tiaamii. But this is a couple that understands stardom, and they know how to be over the top. It surely won't be long before little Princess Tiaamii is introduced to Donald Trump's faux-royal baby, Barron William.
# 5. Jagger Song.
Does Mick Jagger know about this baby? He's the son of musician Brett Scallions, former lead vocalist of the band Fuel, and Abby Gennet, MTV veejay and lead singer for the New York band Slunt. Little Jagger was born in September, 2007, and yes, he is named after Sir Mick.
# 6. Eden and Savannah.
The birth of actress Marcia Cross's twins in February was one of the true celebrity births of the year, surrounded by a huge amount of media hype, in part due to Cross's fame for her role on Desperate Housewives, and in part due to her age, almost 45. The twins were the result of in-vitro fertilization, Cross revealed. She also reported that she and husband Tom Mahoney each independently came up with the name Savannah. She came up with Eden while getting a massage.
# 7. Alabama Gypsy Rose.
It just exudes country, poetry, and America. The daughter of Drea De Matteo, who played Adriana on The Sopranos, and musician Shooter Jennings (son of the late country star Waylon Jennings) was one of the more original celebrity baby names of 2007.
# 8. Beckett Mancuso.
Actress Diane Farr, star of the CBS show Numb3rs, picked one of the trendiest, up-and-coming names for her son, born in March. She has revealed that the name Beckett was chosen in honor of playwright Samuel Beckett. It is also the name of Conan O'Brien's son. Definitely a celebrity baby name on the hot track.
# 9. Ever Gabo.
Actress and model Milla Jovovich and fiance Paul Anderson named their newborn daughter Ever Gabo in November, and left everyone scratching their heads and wondering where the names came from. Jovovich later said that the name Ever is a Scottish boy's name (we can't verify that claim, nor do we know why they chose a boy's name for a girl) and Gabo is a made up name combining the first parts of her parents' names, Galina and Bogie. Actually, it was more fun not knowing how they came up with the name.
# 10. Ptolemy John.
How could we not put a name like Ptolemy on the list? Actress Gretchen Mol, and director husband Tod Williams, chose the name for their son, born in September. It's not every day you hear the name Ptolemy. Most of us don't even know how to pronounce it! But no matter. It's really different, and when it comes to celebrity baby names, that counts for a lot.
